Great idea. Great approach. Good cast. Good "art" (dancing, acting, music, etc.). The problem is there is too little of any of it. It feels like it tried to make too much movie in too little time. Either there are too many characters or too many "years" (the movie shows all four years of school versus focusing on one year). My hunch is the latter vs. the former. The movie moves so quickly and so abruptly that when it ends you feel like you spent two hours watching clips versus a final, full production. In terms of worldview - it is quite shallow and shows many artists for what they (or their craft) are or create: narcissistic, troubled individuals trying to find meaning for themselves by doing whatever they want. "Achieve your dream and it is the right dream (though not for everyone): Fame." The only part I really liked, worldview-wise was the stance the director took in portraying the main girl "selling out" to get ahead. Other than that this is a puddle of potential.
