“Emma Smith: My Story" is a Charming, Warm, Historically Accurate Drama using some of the same cast and crew from a number of films produced in Utah. Smart move Mr. Producer! Hollywood has found that the production value in this “right to work state” exceeds what comes out of LaLa Land.

The story of Emma Smith is well-acted and beautifully shot. Flashbacks tell the story how Joseph Smith, founder of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, courted Emma over the objections of her father, elopement, early struggles, separations due to Joseph’s wrongful imprisonment, and martyrdom.

The film tactfully represents plural-marriage, while offereing a correct historical representation, coupled with Emma’s personal emotions.

This film has a very good cast. Nelson has a disarming smile, and the old older version of Emma, veteran television and film star Patricia Place adds additional warmth and character.

It is amazing what the co-director and cinematographer T.C. Christensen did when he filmed with his big-picture-postcard style. Couple with the music of composer Merrill B. Jenson this is a five star production.
