Earth: Review By Rufio

Beautiful... well narrated... unoriginal... disappointing. I have been very excited about watching this doc*mentary on Bluray with my kids and, the vivid pictures and scenes do not disappoint. What does, however, is this film's utter lack of originality. The Elephant story is recycled film (and story) from the IMAX elephants' movie and "Planet Earth" (and they only told part of the story leaving out the sad conclusion for baby elephant). The whale story is quite tame and lacking in excitement and the Polar Bear segment seems worn out. Next time they need to (1) use ORIGINAL footage (while the elephant story is powerful - it is WORN OUT), (2) shorten it to 1 hour (or provide more substance and less time-lapsed photography of leaves swaying and grass growing), (3) tackle some animals rarely covered (or ones we are familiar with in a different light).
