I never heard anything about this movie until this month- the month it came out. I do not know why because it had 2 somewhat famous actors, and a well-known director. But I heard about it from a friend, then I saw a poster for it that same day at the theater. Then I started seeing little commercials for it on TV, and even though they were under a minute, they were very effective. I've never even seen a full-length trailer for this, and here I am... Already saw this, opening day. Now, I mainly saw it opening day because I got some time to kill here before this thing at school. So I saw the movie, and now I'm typing this review at the library.

Anyhow, I did enoy the movie quite a bit, as you can see by my high rating of 4 stars. However, the film does have a few weaknesses. One being a few scenes of acting, and then random comedy that didn't fit. I'll get into both of these later...

So our story starts with a girl who wants a promotion at her job, which is lending loans to people (she works at a bank, obviously). An old lady comes and wants an extension because she can't afford her house at the moment. But she wants this promotion so bad, that she denies the old lady. Then later in the night, the old lady puts a curse on her, so she will be taken to hell. Now, she has 3 days to try to figure out a way to not be Dragged To Hell. I thought this was a pretty good story that reminded me so much of one other movie... But sadly I can't think of the title. Maybe you can help me remember...

I thought a great majority of the acting was great! Alison Lohman did for the most part, good. But every now and then her acting was forced, and I questioned it... But she's quite pretty, so I'll have to give her a break. Justin Long is an actor I do not like at all. I thought his acting was bad in Live Free or Die Hard, and just awful in Jeepers Creepers. This he actually did decent. Until the end. He was all like "NOOOOO!!!" and it's funny, when the scene wasn't suppose to be. But aside from them, the supporting cast was great!

Sam Raimi... Ok, don't kill me, but he wasn't at his best here. I love all 3 (soon to be 4, maybe 5, 6... who know's how many they'll make) Spider-Man movies, and the Evil Dead trilogy... but he seemed to be slacking here. It's Raimi, so with the Evil Dead franchise, you'd think he does horror/comedy movies. I thought he was done when I saw the poster, and TV spots for this, and when the film started. But I think he tried to stop, but couldn't. Because there was about an hour of the film without cheesy comedy when something scary was going on. Then in this one part, this guy gets possessed, and starts dancing like a total retard, then the goat talks. I was just mortified at how retarded both those things were. Then BAM! Back to serious. I know what you're thinking- WTF?! Well, so was I... Also, what was his problem with letting any bad acting into his movie? He's this big, great director, and if I were like him, I'd yell "cut!" a lot more with my actors...

Visually wise, just awesome. Get over the fact that one or two of the little things that fly around are obviously computer, the film is incredibly cool, visually. All the makeup for the evil lady(ies) is great, and just in general, really cool, visual movie. Plus Alison Lohman...

So, overall, I do recommend this. Even go see it in theaters! It's worth it, and not a waste. But I think judging by the other reviews, it's a bit overrated due to questionable acting, familiar story, and cheese directing at points... BUT STILL SEE IT!

And by the way, if you're thinking- "PG-13! It will be stupid!" ... You're wrong. This movie is actually very scary, and I did jump a few times. Might not have this same effect on you if you wait till DVD, and see it in the boring day time, not on the big screen.
