Down in the Delta: Review By paxchristiwny

In order to live together in peace, it is very important that we know and feel how our sisters and brothers lived in the past. Down in the Delta presents an important page in our history in a very human way.

Down in the Delta released in 1998 came to my TV after 10 years in hiding. It shared with me an insight to the unbelievable difference between the hopelessness of a three generation family living in a Chicago "ho"and the opportunities they found with another part of their extended family in southern Mississippi. Without casting any guilt from the story, I felt the pain and injustice of slavery and the lingering oppression of systemic racism.

I highly recommend this superior film to anyone seriously concerned about the lives of people whose opportunities were and are different from our own. A couple of hankies may come in handy if you have an open heart.
