Richard Kelly isn't really what you would call "normal". He has a special ability to make his films worth-while, unlike some other film directors out there today. Since its limited 2001 release, and following a theatrical director's cut in 2004, Donnie Darko has found fans all over the world. The film focuses so much on the plot and the outcome, that it hardly puts any effort into the film itself, which makes the film good - because when a movie focuses too much on itself, it falls apart because it tries to "thrill" the audience. However, Donnie Darko spends its time on the plot, which works its way up to the climax. Richard Kelly has made his directorial debut a success, and any sci-fi fan should watch this movie, because its limitations go on and on forever.
