I've been a fan of the books and when I heard they were going to make a movie about it. I WAS SCREAMING"YES!!!!!!!!!!" I've been waiting for the film for 2 years and then I saw this movie with a couple of my friends who were also fans of the books. I had meh expectations and when I walked out of the movie they had exceaded all of my expectations. This never happens to me with movie adaptations of books.

Story:So if this movie is based on one of my favorite book series it has to have a good story. It does! So the story is about this kid named Greg Heffley and he's having his first year of middle school. So there's going to be bullies, mean teachers and guys who have to shave twice a day.The story is very simple and it never drags. The story just follows his first year in middle school.

Acting:The acting is actually great. The kids and the adults in the movie are all having a good time and that means that the audience is having a good time.Zachary Gordon and Robert Capron are great in there roles as Greg Heffley and Rowley Jefferson. Rachael Harris and Steve Zahn are great as the parents of Greg. Everybody else is great as there roles.

Directing:The director Thor Freudental also directed Hotel For Dogs and his direction was great in that movie and he directed this movie greatly too. He really caught the feeling of the book and he had some pretty great camera angles here and there. He really made the actors feel at home with this movie.

Visuals:For a low budget movie this movie had some great visual.Like when the camera goes into journal form and it shows what happens in the story right then. The journal sequences use the same charactor models from the books.

How connected to the book is it? It is actually pretty close to the book and they make there own sequences that seem like they should have been in the book. The comedy is suprisingly great.Even my dad was laughing.

So I this is one of those book movies that doesn't let me down. Get this movie on dvd or blu-ray.
