Dead Snow: Review By tokyoICON

I have been waiting to see this film for some time now. Since i first saw its Killer poster i knew that this was going to be a little treat that i needed to taste. A norwiegan nazi-zombie bloodbath. No way in hell this could disappoint!

I finally had the opportunity to feast upon what i had hoped would be a tatsty morsel, and i was left delighted! A small budget action/horror-comedy affair a'la "Shaun of the dead". Its not a better film than "Shaun" and i think it would be slightly unfair to judge it accordingly, but this film more than holds it own and is a nice addition to this type of sub-genre.

Its your typical cliche horror plot. A group of twenty somethings go on a camping vacation deep into the mountains, here some creepy folk-lore, do something they shouldn't do, and then are horrifically attacked and picked off one by one. The thing that makes this cool though is the fact that it knows its that type of film and often makes fun of itself throughout. The gore is over the top, the zombies are ill, and it doesn't come across as cheesy at all. ( except for one small part ).

It does take awhile though for the gorey sh*t to playout, but you aren't left bored throughout. For a small budget this movie was really presented well and the gore is executed excellently. My complaints are minor and few, simply because i knew what this film was going for and i was left more than pleased with the outcome. If you understand the genre and liked "Evil Dead" and "Shaun of the Dead" then this " Dead" fits perfectly in between those two and will leave you with a smile.

An epic ending filled with blood, chainsaws,sledgehammers,machine guns, dropping limbs, and a little of everything else. VERY NICE!
