When it was all said and done, I just didn't care.

First of all, I loved how they transitioned vampires into society. They present vampires functioning as humans would (anyway they can). For example they mix blood with their coffee and they have cars fitted with UV protected windshields. That's all groovy but the movie felt like it went in to many directions, bringing around story lines that kind of muddled up the story, i.e. Sam Niel's daughter, which turned out to be a weak pivot for Ethan Hawkes brother's character development. I could feel that the writers/directors were trying to deliver some sort of message but it just kinda fell through the cracks.
Unfortunately with the hatred for Twilight (which is justified), vampire enthusiasts will be clamoring for anything not Twilight and they will embrace it with loving arms. So wait around because Daybreakers is nothing you want sink your teeth into.
