Dallas 362: Critic Reviews

Mr. Caan's debut film is not quite a whole thing, but it offers up enough promising fragments to make his sophomore effort worth watching for.

[Goldblum's] wildly improbable character is all too typical of the contrived plotting and reductive psychology that propel the script to its inevitable conclusion.

Caan's directorial debut is eager to please, with flashy montage sequences, lots of colourful character bits ... black humour and a punk/blues score from the likes of Soledad Brothers and White Stripes.

Caan shows with his rough-and-tumble character dramedy precisely why actors like to work for actors.

The film's opening and closing credit sequences, with their wonderfully constructed preamble and epilogue, show Caan's filmmaking at its best and most fully articulated. We look forward to hearing more from him.

We instantly care about these loveable losers and begin rooting for them to make some wise decisions and break the cycle of violence.

startling and elucidative

Scott Caan has been an enjoyable presence in movies, but his confident eye behind the camera and on the page is even more noteworthy. Dallas 362 is as assured a debut as I've seen on the film festival circuit this year.
