Crazy Stupid Love: Review By MutantFairy

Some of these ensemble movies sometimes aren't very good but this one is. The actors were perfect for the roles they played. It's a movie about love for 3 different generations so it accurately ranges from serious & depressing drama to very funny comedy. There are a number of "love" stories that it follows in the suburbs & they are all interesting. Because it takes place in the suburbs the characters are connected in some way.

At first I thought the dramatic thing that Steve Carrell does at the beginning of the movie was completely unrealistic but after watching the movie & hearing how he feels I can understand how it is possible. It seems like something in his position would do.

There is a lot of good advice in the movie, some of it realistic & some of it so idealistic it would only apply in a movie. The movie knows this as one character says that she "is not pg-13" that is rated R. & she describes a common movie trope. They even mention other movies like Dirty Dancing & the original Karate Kid so it helps to have seen those other movies.

It was a really well-written fantasy because people do not really talk like that & those kinds of things don't really happen but I think the movie can inspire one to try to be like the characters in the movie. Which isn't such a bad thing.
