Isla Fisher, the redhead that not many people know yet but they will after CONFESSIONS, unleashes the lead role with such confidence in this book-based movie which isn’t bad, in fact, it has some silly amusing moments but unfortunately,… people are still fresh from having watched The Devil Wears Prada and Sex and The City Movie so much so that I just don’t see how this would be able to rise above those two titles and movies that are like it. If CHOKE deals with sex addiction, CONFESSIONS deals with not being able to kill the urge to stupidly spend, spend, spend but the joy of shopping is what makes the story so… addictive.

I’ve always wanted to sit in on one of those –oholic anonymous meetings just to see what it feels like but I’m sure it doesn’t come close to being as outrageous as what’s shown in CONFESSIONS. I love Isla Fisher’s way of changing the course of the conversation and re-route it completely from punishing one-self to reminding her fellow ‘patients’ why they fall in love with shopping in the first place.

The odds are you won’t get bored by CONFESSIONS OF A SHOPAHOLIC and although it can be really far-fetched, you’ll be quite impressed with the luring, living mannequins, pretty decent visual effects for a romantic comedy, if you ask me.

The story is very typical, and yes, it even has that pivotal, rock bottom, enlightening moment where the lead character finally realizes what he or she did wrong and how exactly they are going to fix the situation.. in a silly manner of course.

It’s a celebration of style, capitalism, and everything that’s fine. It only goes wrong when obsession takes over in place of dressing up for need or getting in tune with the trend. The romance is a bit bland, the chemistry between the two characters are not strong enough to move mountains but maybe that’s the movie’s intention all along, not so much lovy dubby but just to show what you’re missing out in life and how alone you’ll be if you’re too fixed on something so bad you can’t live without it.

If I ever go see this flick it will be to see Isla Fisher... and that's all. What in the world she sees in Sasha Baron Cohen, I have no idea.
