Collateral: Review By WiseGuy

Collateral is a very intense crime/thriller film directed by Michael Mann. Led by a strong performance from Jamie Foxx who was nominated for this and Ray both in 2004. He won best actor for Ray.

Max Durocher is a cab driver doing his normal job having another normal day. Max picks up a man named Vincent. Vincent asks Max to be his personal chauffeur for the day. Vincent offers to pay him double of what he gets a day. Max reluctently agrees. From here on in is when the movie starts to get real intense and suspensful.

This movie made me feel like it was real. I mean it could happen, it is possible. Thats what I love about the story. It gets you hooked, right away. The action scenes were great and exciting. The chemistry between the two leading roles Jamie Foxx and Tom Cruise is great and makes it even a better film.

Lets talk about Tom Cruise, if you know him you probably always seen him as the good guy. Not in this movie, he shows Hollywood and the audience that he sure can act. This is, I think, his best role. I didnt expect him to do a good job but he nailed it. I have never seen him as the villian but always as the protagonist. Im sure, many people were suprised by his performance, I was. Nice job.

Michael Mann has directed many great crime thrillers before this such as Heat, The Insider, Theif, and more.

This is one of his most underrated movies. This, in my opinion is one of his most decorated films. I loved it, and I think you will too. Especially if your a fan of Michael Mann. If you have not seen any of his movies I propose you do. But if your looking for a great thriller/suspense film. This is the one. Dont let the cast fool you, without it it wouldnt live up to its greatness.
