I was truly expecting a crappy movie here with "Cloverfield". What I got was a bad assed monster in New York movie but with jumpy camera work, so bad that it gave me a head ache. Still, I watched it through to the end. Once the monster struck for the first time, I was captivated and couldn't look away for the remainder of the film.

Dam, first 9-11, and now this. Poor New Yorker's.

Now his is a big f*cking monster, unfortunately they never really give you a clear view of it, or it's many, many babies. Well actually that's a lie. I had just gotten into the bathroom when my friends who were viewing the film with me started cheering. When I returned I was told of a cool shot that actually stared the monster down in his eyes, dammit, now I have to watch it again just for the whole one minute I missed.

The characters are believable. It seems that the directors here put in a hell of a lot effort to make these sequences as real looking as possible. My friend, jokingly said after the film "Wow, so that actually happened eh!".

There were a couple of things in the film I didn't get. Why did the army guy's grab the girl who got bit? Was she infected with something? Did they kill her or did a monster bust out of her chest like in "Alien"?. I also find it hard to believe that the U.S. army, with there divine wisdom, would let the camera man continue to roll the tape. You'd think that would be a security issue. Plus, the camera man is obviously a sex predator in the making. It's a good thing that the army grabbed his girl of choice, cause you can almost picture him with her dead, cold and bloody body. Hopefully he would have put the camera down for that scene.

All in all, I liked the movie, at least enough to watch it a second time. Re-play value is what it's all about....
