Sorry to say, but if I want to get this whole Pixar thing done, #'s 8-4 are all going to be my old one paragraph reviews. #8 on my list is Cars, or the redneck Pixar movie as I like to call it. I say that mainly because of all the country music that they play, and honestly it really does get annoying. The film is basically Pixar's interpretation of what the world would be like if it were run by cars. It centers on a self-centered race car named Lightening McQueen who, after a freak separation from the trailer taking him to the most important race of his life, ends up having to do community service in a small forgotten highway town called Radiator Springs. It is there where he learns the importance of not being a money grubbing snob. The director is John Lasseter, the genius behind the Toy Story movies. You can tell he really put a lot of work into this movie, but all Pixar movies really have that sorta seal of made from the heart. Acting was okay, but the cars who stole the show were George Carlin as a hippie VW van named Filmore, Larry the Cable Guy as a dim witted tow truck named Mater, and Michael Keaton as the film's villian, rival car racer Chick Hicks. Visuals were stunning, what do you expect from a Pixar movie? So all in all, a pretty solid Pixar film, just not the best. One final note, if you were to survey the majority of Pixar fans, kids, this would probably be their favorite Pixar film.
