Pointless violence that takes itself too seriously, pointless bad language to make the characters look hard...real gangsters don't need to swear to be tough. over-the-top idiot protagonist (good guy) gangster Carlito Brigante wants to go straight. Having had his 30-year drug sentence reduced to 5, he plans to make money and retire. Too bad it'll waste 3 hours of your life to see whether he makes it. Like a lot of these kinds of movies it has a no-passion relationship(I reserve the word romance for good films like true romance and romancing the stone) -that in this rubbish film- lacks feeling. Anyways his idiot nephew involves him a pool-room gunfight and then his crackhead lawyer and some depressing cripple get him in more trouble. No comic relief and crappy soundtrack and wanna-be serious gangster school-bully nonsense. seriously don't waste your time on Carlito's ass you'll have more fun stabbing yourself with a rusty spoon. instead find a movie where you might actually give a crap about the characters.
