The countdown is almost over; With one week to go, we have one last movie before the team assembles in this summers The Avengers. Taking place years before Tony Stark was captured and escaped as a hostage who later became Iron Man, before Bruce Banner a scientist on the run with some anger issues unleashed the incredible Hulk, before Thor a god of Asgard was banished to earth and fought his jealous brother Loki, their was the First Avenger....Captain America!

The film tells the story of Steve Rogers, a man from Brooklyn who is transformed into the super-soldier known as Captain America who must stop the Red Skull, the leader of an organization known as Hydra plans to use a device called a "tesseract" for world domination.

Captain America is one of those awesome "throw-back" action movies with corny humor and a fun loving patriotic spirit. I had some doubtful thoughts about how will this movie succeed with Chris Evans playing Captain America when he previously played the role of Fantastic Four's Human Torch. On top of that, I was more worried about having Joe Johnston who directed the mediocre Jurassic Park III and the 'not-so-good-as-it-looked-like' The WolfMan movies that his adaptation of Captain America was going to be a disaster.

Turns out, Johnston and Chris Evans proved me wrong as Captain America: The First Avenger was an amazing movie. I went and saw Thor in 3D just because I wanted to see the special effects of Asgard in 3D, but after finding out Capt. America was post-converted to 3D, I decided not to see it since everyone I talked to said all the 3D does is distract you from the story and uses his flying shield as a "gimmick". So I saved my money and saw it in regular 2D.

Now onto the actors. First we have our heroic and courageously brave Steve Rogers played by Chris Evans who is not a total douche in this movie. I swear, Evans makes for a better Captain America than he did for Human Torch. So I'm glad they chose the right guy to play our Captain and Avengers Team Leader. Chris Evans shows that he put a lot of heart and soul into this role as he didn't want to disappoint fans of the Captain America. Onto our next star is Hayley Atwell. Never heard of her or seen her in any movie before Captain America came out but she can act good. As an actress playing Peggy Carter who's a tough as nail chick and somewhat love interest in Rogers' eyes she does well. It's a shame she wont return in the sequel or Cap will never get to dance with her. We also have the wise-ass, joke cracking Tommy Lee Jones. Tommy Lee Jones and his sarcastic humor really bring that "touch" to the movie. Let's forget our main bad guy Hugo Weaving himself (who should play as every movie's villain) and the awesome Stanley Tucci (who should star in every movie made)

both make for great additions to the film.

With great action, comes great story (I just had to make a Spidey reference somehow), Captain America: The First Avenger is a blast. Filled with non-stop thrills and explosions, captivating music score, nostalgic 80's action film feel, and a very well written script; this MCU film in the five-part movie event all culminating with The Avengers brings us closer to that superhero team up of a lifetime that we've been waiting for. Chris Evans, Hugo Weaving, Stanley Tucci, and Tommy Lee Jones with Hayley Atwell bring joy and heart to the all American patriotic hero that we know and love today.

How does Captain America: The First Avenger fit into The Avengers?:

The movie opens up with SHIELD Operatives finding Steve Rogers frozen in ice. Later on throughout the film we have a young Howard Stark, who helped with the Super-Soldier program turning Rogers into who is now. With the help of Stark, Steve Rogers gets a newly designed vibranium protection shield and a new suit. Also, in the end of the movie SPOILER ALERT: Rogers wakes up after being frozen for 70 years in ice and meets up with Nick Fury. And their's a little sneak peek teaser for The Avengers after the credits too.

@ghostman: Fantastic movie and great review. "Captain America" is my 2nd favorite movie in the MCU, and I liked it better than "Thor." The acting was great, the visuals were so fantastic, and I really loved the WWII setting of this film. I've never heard of Hayley Atwell before either, but after watching this movie, it turns out she's a great newcomer and a really beautiful actress. :-)

And as for Joe Johnston, I actually really liked "The Wolfman," but I did not like "Jumanji" that much; I've actually never seen "Jurassic Park III" either. And I agree, Chris Evans should stick to his Captain America role instead of being the Human Torch or that gay-ass character in that crappy "Scott Pilgrim" sh*t.
