the big job is actually four hits to various drug dealers, petifiles, etc all except for 1 as we later find out. Cage actually does a decent job portaying a lonely professional killer. (albeit with the worst hairstyle since Tom hanks in the davinci code)you realy feel for the guy with those puppy dog eyes, of course he doesent stay lonely long, as he inlists the help of a young thief by the name of Kong. after a few succesful hits, he takes Kong under his wing and trains him in the ways of the force....i mean hitman. along the way Cage also meets a beutiful mute asian pharmacist.(the lucky bastard meets every guys fantasy a hot chick who cant talk your ear off. am i right fellas? jk)thru and thru the action scenes are nicely done.as each kill had its own feel, between quick, quite, or jus plain exposive. they are fun to watch.
the same however cannot be said towards the end of the movie,(warning spoiler alert ahead)as the friendship teacher to student between Cages character and Kong doesent realy go anywhere, as does the romantic relationship between Cage and the deaf woman and seemed pointess after the end credits as (Spoiler)Cage shoots himself along with the bad guy.? and that pretty much leaves you at the end, with a big ? on your head.granted il give Cage credit as that's one way you guerantee you wont be in the sequel.

Crypt... you didn't understand what JB was trying to say. He said "the spoiler probly wasent neccasary" not the "spoiler alert". He was trying to say that he probably didn't need to give away that Cage shoots himself. But I guess it doesn't matter anymore since we've stated that so many times in our comments below haha.

yeah i agree wit movie buff the whole deaf girl scenes seemed irrelivent. i mean, i know what the dir was going 4 by showing that he was lonely an was looking 4 companionship but all that was pointless as movie buff said it didint change the end outcome either way. although the whole movie seemed pointless after that last scene. oh an the spoiler probly wasent neccasary, my buddys thought it was a funny line when we were at the theartre so i put it in.

haha funny Crypt. Dammit! Stop repeating yourself! haha
Anyway... I got the movie. I even had to explain to my bro. He killed himself cause he was tired of his ways and realized that there was more to life than what he was doing... especially with his romance. My brother said "I didn't get it. This guy was supposedly a very disciplined hitman and he broke every one of his rules.... not one or two... all of them. Why would he do that if he was supposedly disciplined?"
I had to explain that we were shown only the time where he re-evaluates his life due to his romance with the pharmacist. But I think the movie would've worked better without the pharmacist and his death. We probably would've liked the character better.

I think that half the population didnt get thi movie. it was more than just an action story, it was a romance, and well, i think there is a little more too it than meets the eye. i mean, i think he killed himself not because of his girl, but because he was just done with life. i mean what eles would he do? be a hitman? well to me it didnt look like he liked his job very much. i think he was just done with life. (oh wait.... i alredy said that)

Sure you do... what happens in the end is pointless. Whether he had met her or not.
Why would he do that if he had NOT met her? No reason... he would still be his killer self.
Why would he do that if he HAD met her? No reason... he STILL wouldn't end up with her in his arms.
Point is... he didn't have to do what he did at the end... period. It made no sense. Therefore, meeting her or NOT meeting her should not determined that ending. It was pointless.
And I DID care about his character WITHOUT the pharmacist. I thought he was a disciplined badass hitman who became a teacher to Kong. I enjoyed the character.... and it had nothing to do with the deaf/mute.

ya, MB123, but she makes you care about Nicolas Cage. otherwise than that, you dont care if he lives or dies !!*spoiler*!! and he does die

Nice review, but I think giving out that spoiler in the end wasn't necessary. I think you got your point across without it.
But I agree. The relationship with the young deaf pharmacist was totally unnecessary. They could've cut EVERY scene with her out of the movie (about 12 to 15 min of running time)and the movie could've still worked.... maybe even better. As I said in my review, I felt I was playing charades in all her scenes that were totally pointless and unnecessary.
