'Backdraft' is a non-stop action-packed drama about firefighters and it grabbed my interest as soon as I saw the poster. I was truly amazed by the action and the dramatic shots that this film offered which makes it my favorite fire department drama. I also loved the settings of all the action and disaster sequences that really knocks Irwin Allen's socks off which makes it pure Hollywood gold! Firefighter stories is one of the best choices to make an epic drama and you've gotta have a great cast, story, spectacular visual arts, and big romance which director, Ron Howard presented in this action, thriller. I think everybody in the cast was wonderful, but William Baldwin and Rebecca De Mornay were a bit just solid or dry at a few points, because they needed the right facial expression in some scenes, but they did have the right tone, though. They truly outdone themselves when it comes to the fantasy explanation of fire, because they speak of it like it's alive and so does several shots in the film, capturing it in slow-motion and has like this monstrous moan in the background which I give an A+ for artistic fantasy within Howard. The visual effects were perfect by using mostly miniature which helps the realism a whole lot more than CGI, because if you make it big enough, slow it down enough, and not close up into it, it's really realistic like that rooftop collapsing near the end. Kurt Russell, William Baldwin, Scott Glenn, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Rebecca De Mornay, Donald Sutherland, and Robert De Niro star in an icon of Hollywood disaster films where there is action on every corner and where hell breaks loose in every door in Ron Howard's, 'Backdraft'.
