Baby Mama: Review By SCREENWRITER

I just watched this movie on HBO. Did I liked it? Eh. Not really. This movie was not all that great. I expected much, MUCH more from this movie and I did not get what people told me. People I know told me that this movie was hilarious and really good. One, it was funny at all, I may have laughed once and it was just a [he he] laugh. Two, the movie was really slow going and it wasn’t even all that good. I expected way more than what this was. Plus, with such a funny cast you’d expect a riot in this movie. This movie not only has Tina Fey and Amy Poelher but it has small roles by Dax Shepard, Steve Martin, AND Sigourney Weaver. But, this movie still disappointed me. A lot! When this movie first came out, I didn’t really want to see it. Then, people said it was great so I had to see it. But, however, I waited for the DVD. Soon after the DVD came out, I forgot about it. Then, I saw it on HBO and said “I HAVE TO WATCH THIS!”. I watched it, with only a running time of ninety nine minutes, and I was more disappointed than ever. I expected an hilarious comedy but got a boring and dull pregnancy film. Would I recommend “Baby Mama”? No, I would not. So, if you are reading this review, please, skip this movie. If you haven’t seen this and plan to, you are not missing anything. Please, take my warning, Skip “Baby Mama”. But, this is just a review based on my opinion. Maybe its just me. I guess this just wasn’t for me. But, I would say skip it.

PLOT:

The plot of this movie is wicked stupid. I got so sick of the whole plot the first forty five minutes in the darn movie. I mean, the idea of this movie is good but it was written and made so wrong! Make it funny for gosh sakes! Its supposed to be a comedy but where’s the laughs!? The movie is wicked dull the first twenty minutes but once Amy Poehler comes it at least sp*ces the movie up a little bit. But, even with her, the movie is not that funny. Like I said, I laughed once. Once! That’s it. I was surprised that two funny actresses did this movie because neither of them were funny at all in this movie. At all. In my opinion though. Alright, here’s the plot:

SPOILERS:

A women who can’t have babies and really wants them, hires a women to have her child [but the women she hires isn’t really pregnant] and she realizes that this women is a practice to the baby-life when she moves in with her after a separation with her husband. Soon, the hired women discovers she is pregnant but it isn’t Fey’s baby and really, the movie just goes back and forth. I hated it. In the end, Fey finds out she’s pregnant when the movie doesn’t even tell you that her and her love interest even had sex and the movie was really just annoying. Very annoying. I thought Steve Martin’s jokes in this movie were horrible and Sigourney Weaver’s slutty character was really stupid and, ugh, annoying. The movie didn’t have bad acting but the characters in the movie were so annoying. I’m sorry for my complaining but this movie was really just NOT for me.

ACTING:

Did this movie have bad acting? No, not really. The acting in this movie did not bother me but all the characters in this movie were just annoying. Dax Shepard, a funny actor in my opinion, sucked in this movie. He doesn’t suck but he was so stupid in this. I know that this was mean’t to be a stupid comedy and it does have its serious moments, but people can only be so dumb in life! Tina Fey was good in the movie. I like her as an actress and she does good in this but like I said, I hate the characters in this so I’m not giving a five on the acting for this movie. Amy Polher is a funny lady but in everything she does she always acts so stupid. I hate her in most of her performances. She’s just too dumb. She’s a lady version of Will Ferrell, I swear. The rest in this were okay, good, and bad. The acting wasn’t bad in my opinon but the character traits were boring and annoying at times.

THE GOOD OF THE MOVIE:

The good of the movie? This movie has a story that could really happen. The plot of the film is realistic and people really do this kind of thing sometimes if they cant have children. That was really the only thing I liked about this movie. Nothing else, really.

THE BAD OF THE MOVIE:

The bad of the movie? Its too friggon’ stupid and dull. I hated most of the scenes in this movie. This movie could have been a lot better if it were a little funnier and the characters weren’t so dumb at most of the times.

VISUALS:,

This isn’t really a visual type movie. So, that’s a high rating, I guess. I mean, there was not one hot chick in this movie but I really can’t complain about that. Lol.

DIRECTION:

I can’t complain about the direction in this movie. The direction was fine in this movie. I do not know who directed this but HE/SHE did a good job doing so.

REPLAY:

I will never watch this again. This is not a movie to watch twice never mind once. So, if I were to own this movie, I’d never touch it again after the first time seeing it.

OVERALL:

Overall, a ridiculous, stupid, and dull comedy. I am not a fan of this and I really expect much more from this. I only laughed once and not again afterwards. So, I would say, ‘Skip “Baby Mama”’. It is really not worth your time. It was a waste of mine. I mean, this movie isn’t all bad. It is a 2 star rating for me, but I would still say skip it.
