I just got back from Avatar in IMAX 3D. First of all I was pleasantly surprised that the 3D did not make me motion sick, dizzy or cross-eyed.

It was actually quite natural after a few minutes.

The movie itself was very long. Go to the bathroom beforehand and bring some snacks cause your not gonna want to miss anything.

A good part of the movie is spent explaining the new world, culture of the natives, heirarchy, interactions with wildlife, legends, things you need to know about the planet and all life on it. Some of those parts are a little slower than I usually like but those parts give you a chance to explore the world of Pandora a little better.

The story isn't one that is hard to see coming (especially with all that was shown in the trailers), not a lot of twists and turns. The characters are developed ok, they could have been developed a lot more, but it's hard to do that and explain all the rules and culture of the new world in a 3 hour time frame.

That being said, the story was still good. A little tree huggerish at parts but not nearly as much as I was expecting. The effects were absolutely amazing! Easily one of the most, possibly THE MOST visually stunning piece of cinema I have ever seen. The planet, the animals, the natives, the surroundings, the plants, the weaponry, etc. It was a real treat just taking it all in. I am truly impressed with the creative minds that developed this movie. It is not a movie I would watch often, but it is one that I would surely recommend and I look forward to a sequel.

Well done Mr. Cameron, it was a beautiful and crazy film!
