This is it. This is the best film of the last year hands down. This is a contention to the best film of the decade. Hey I would even go as far as to say this film is the best film of James Camerons selection; and maybe even in some ways the best film ever!! It really is that good. I was lucky enough to catch this masterpiece in 3d at my local cineworld and I have no regrets what so ever in doing so. This is testament to the way that it is shot that it is much better when shown in this manner.

The story is top class. With similarities with the old tale of pochohantas but in space this film covers many different genres. Sci-fi, fantasy, action, adventure, romance, war. This film has it all. This is also one of the very few films that engross me so much that i felt one with the movie, this is a credit to the writing talents of the man himself and prove that his doubters were wrong as I believe that I am not the only one to feel this way. The story just begs for more, more from you and in turn, like me, you beg from more of the same in possible sequels and back stories.

Again Sam Worthington is amazing and proving that he has the capabilities to become a leading Hollywood actor, this is apparent in both his avatar acting as well as his ex marine Jake Scully. Zoe Saldana is also proving that her acting credits are worth there gold and the princess of Pandora is a ideal way to showcase her talents. The chemistry between these two is so apparent and it is in this way that the story is able to move on from one scenario to the next. You really do root for these characters, you feel involved with these characters. The back up cast are also top class with Signourey Weaver, in my opinion stealing the show so to speak.

The directing in this movie like the other movies of James Camerons, is absolutely amazing. You can fully understand and also justify the amount of money and time that has gone into this picture and in the way understand how the studio backed him and also how some doubted the hype. But no fears as the film lives up to and surpasses the hype by a massive margin. This film will win oscars and therefore will further James's place as one of Hollywoods best directors ever.

As you can also expect the visuals are in this movie top class. I found that after a few minutes the 3d movie comes into its own and blends with real life. Into a way where you do not realise you are actually watching it. The special effects within this movie are the best of the year and this draws you into the story more than ever. The selection of creatures on show and the way that everything interacts with each other shows this is the way that movies will become.

Has it changed cinema for ever. Has it been worth it. Yes to both. Although it is too early to see how it has effected the movie making ways. It is perfectly clear that this movie is an emmense and throught provoking piece that has to be watched to understand, The best film of the year and a definite for the home release and future cinema viewings. Roll on the sequel. 5/5

I wouldn't worry to much guido.

You see, like Cameron had said once. He never expected it to be a huge success right away, for the fact it's one of the few things that isn't based on a book, TV show, or a remake. So people are going to have to trust him with something original. Something they're not familiar with, something without a already made fan base.

We'll see in a week or two.

And yet, in the theatres I am associated with across the midwest, sellouts are NOT happening. For a masterpiece, maybe it takes awhile for the fire to start. All I can say at this point is, I had more sellouts of Twilight & Blind Side at this point on a Friday night, than I do for Avatar. Truth be told, of the 20 locations(Some in some very big cities that do VERY big numbers and also have 3D) that I have...Not one of these will sell out tonight. This does not look good for big grossing potential! I see a modest opening, and a quick playoff...No matter how good of a masterpiece this is.
