Avatar is a stunning achievement. Not only has it broke out to non-stop box office success, it proves that Hollywood can get it right once in a while. The visuals were nothing short of incredible. The movie reminds me of the same revolutionary cinematic leap that Jurassic Park made over the other typical "dinosaur" movies. It also proves that members of the cast can be successfully blended with CG actors using the cutting edge in movie making techniques. The seamless integration of computer technology with movie making, sets this movie apart from pretty much any other movie I have ever seen. I was thankful that those few portions of the movie where violence and adult language were used tastefully to enhance the feeling compelling me to watch, and made the overall experience more intense. Even though the story was nothing special in my opinion, it worked for me and I was entertained. The plot line sets the viewer in the not to distant future on a planet which is being exploited by humans, in much the same way as with the "white-man" moving into Indian country during the expansion of the West. The theme is based around the indigenous 'alien' population occupying the portion of the planet with the most productive mining locations. The human corporation has sent a small group of people to study the alien culture in order to win territory and mine more of the mineral. The action escalates as our hero is placed in an 'alien' body and eventually becomes a part of the alien tribe. In the end a small group of scientists, leads the whole alien population into an insurgency that drives the exploiting paramilitary corporation from the planet. This movie is a must see, and an excellent addition to any science-fiction collection.
