Director Alejandro González Iñárritu and writer Guillermo Arriaga (both worked on 21 grams) team up to tell the stories of three very different characters that are all connected by a fatal car crash.

Octavio (Gael Garcia Bernal) is in love with his brother's wife, and enters the world of dog fighting with his dog "Cofi" in hopes of saving up enough money for them to run away together. After a the dog is severely injured and the fight goes bad, Octovio becomes involved in a high-speed car crash that results in the fatal crash.

Valeria is a beautiful emerging model becomes an innocent victim of the crash, losing her leg and her career. Her boyfriend Daniel, a middle-aged man who recently left his wife and family to be with Valeria, is soon shattered and his life is transformed as he has to play role as caregiver.

El Chivo is a homeless man who cares for stray dogs and is there to witness the collision. Once a revolutionary-now turned assassin, what he experiences leads to a moral enlightenment.

Amores Perros is a book that you can judge by it's cover. Love's a bitch. Through character development, the backdrop of the each of the stories and the use of different filming techniques, Iñárritu tells a powerful story of love, loss and everything in between. 5 stars.
