Amelie is such a unique film that it is impossible not to love. Jeunet's characters and his quirky and hilarious (and rightfully Oscar-nominated) script are completely his own, and complemented perfectly by his directing style and the film's score. Audrey Tautou is a star in the leading role as the loveable eccentric in a sea of loveable eccentrics, young Amelie Poulin. Her world wraps itself around us in a way that resembles our own world, but in a more Lewis Carroll-esque fashion. Amelie is not only one of the funniest and sweetest films I've ever seen, but it's also one of the best love stories, unconventional but not unbelievable.
