plot:
Pop sensations Alvin, Simon and Theodore end up in the care of Dave Seville's twenty-something nephew Toby. The boys must put aside music super stardom to return to school, and are tasked with saving the school's music program by winning the $25,000 prize in a battle of the bands. But the Chipmunks unexpectedly meet their match in three singing chipmunks known as The Chipettes -- Brittany, Eleanor and Jeanette.
Of course, when the first movie ended I said "The Chipettes are next." And I knew that this was going to be the plot. Seeing Ian in depression, trying to make non-cgi chipmunks sing, at the end, pretty much gave it away. But hey, the first was great, even though Jason Lee's acting could have been better and that ALVIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIN was getting annoying, but you know.
In this movie, David Cross has become twice more annoying than usual. He was so freakin insane and that ending of his was really off the charts. This film did give me one laugh from the beginning; when Dave was tossed across the stage. a nice lol.
This is absolutely for the kids, and me, not my type of adaptation. The first one was good, but I was talking about Scooby-Doo, and the upcoming Smurfs and Yogi Bear. Those two, look like 0.5s. At least I liked the story a lot. very nice and exactly as I was expecting. I'm sorry this is short, but it's 11:15pm and I'm turning off. So yeah the movie was okay, goodnight.

But.... If you were to honestly ask my preference, I'm a sucker for depressing movies, musicals, and epic family adventures. I'm biased against slasher pictures, star vehicles, and bad CGI (relative to the time it was released, of course).

I'm about the same way @moviegeek151. My tastes are pretty varied.

Way to be, @geek - I'm stuck with animation nut, I guess ;)

@Supes I hope to keep it that way. I don't want to be labeled as the crude comedy dude, or the indie man, or the horror maniac. I want to be the movie guy. Hehe, that sounded more pathetic than I originally hoped :P

You grouches haha. I actually enjoyed this movie quite a bit. I was completely surprised, especially since I appalled the first.

Thanks @Dave, I agree. @blockbusterfan I understand the appeal for children, but for myself not so much. I applaud you for giving your opinion justice and explaining :)

You are a lot more gracious than I would have been. This was probably a 0.5 or 1.0 star for myself. I just couldn't even bring myself to finish watching it...Anyways, your review is decent, but it could be tied together a little more nicely and neatly :)
