They played it safe. In some cases too safe. There are moments of faint humor where the eternally vile Ian Hawke,( David Cross), livens up the movie.
But the Movie seems like a Lobster with rubber bands attatched. Potentially harmfull yet restrained. It was like the censorship lady was hovering over the production crew. Ready at a moments notice to smack anyone with a ruler if it got too risque.
Moments of joy.
1. Simon/Simone courting his sweet heart Jeanette.
2. Dave,(Jason Lee),showing a father's love to Alvin.
3. Ian trying to eat Dave's Macaroni neck charm.
The story had potential to be great, instead it was just barely o.k.
A child audience would give it 3 accorns. The adult audience will give it 2 & 1/2 accorns
