"We are talking about a form that is gloriously and righteously dumb." I have never understood what rock 'n roll truly is but this movie gives a great indication of what it used to be, and proves that it is dead and buried. The movie does not excuse or sympathize with rock stars' innocence or ignorance of decency, but the movie itself is so well written and made with love for the characters that you almost feel bad for these people who suffer from fame and fortune. Rock n' roll lived the way it preached and died young, so this is kind of a eulogy for the good old days. I love Lester Bangs for his honesty about the music scene of the day but still managed to find his heroes like Lou Reed. If you like the theatrical version the 'Untitled' cut is much more of this great movie. Get the soundtrack, play it in your car. "It's all happening."
