A Serious Man: Review By Err

i don't say "this movie is not for kids" because it is dirty or raunchy or violent or what have you, but because if your life is still fresh out of the package and you haven't had to navigate your own life, on your own, through any quantity of perspective-altering sh*t storms then there is a good chance that this movie won't speak to you the way it did to me, in fact it will probably bore you.

expert direction, story-telling, acting... it's all there, of course, being a coen brothers movie, but what isn't there is universal appeal.

for one, it is about jewish people, and as i have heard, for jewish people.

you might even hear that if you aren't jewish then you shouldn't bother watching this movie but that is just nonsensical hogwash... i mean seriously, what is the difference if you follow one phony bologna religion or another, am i right?

no, it doesn't matter, what does matter is that you have faced adversity, disappointment, and life-altering change against your will or at the hands of another, and if you have then you will appreciate this movie because it is about exactly that.
