this movie was awful, it puts shame to the legendary movies that came before it...it is truly a waste of your fifteen bucks to see it. they screwed the makeup and the overall story. Even the twisted sense of humor the original Freddy carried through everything was absolutely absent.
Correction. Freddy was never funny in the original movie made by Wes Craven. It wasn't until Craven left the series that Freddy became funny. Also how was it bad? Saying they screwed up the makeup even though they wanted it to look different and more realistic is not really a reason to give it a 0.5 out of 5.

@TheDude1 is correct. Freddy wasn't retarded in the 1st movie, which is why I liked him. Only the 1st movie was good, the rest was crap.
