Let's hope this movie doesn't take the Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull route of the whole father/son thing if the 5th Die Hard film does in fact have John McClane's son in it. Question is, why didn't we know about his son, but we knew about his daughter Lucy?
Eh? What was wrong with Live Free? In my opinion, it's better than Die Hard 2. But all four of them are a 4/5 or higher in my books. I'm stoked for this one too.
@ghostman He's a good choice. As I said in another thread, though, it's really awkward that they're retconning him a son that hasn't been mentioned in any of the other previous movies. I get it that they don't want to reuse his daughter since a big plot point in the fourth movie involved her, but couldn't they just have his "sidekick" be someone else. It worked in Live Free. Although, heh, at least they're not making Justin Long play his son!
@bawnian-dexeus I agree. There are so many characters they need to bring back: Holly, Al Powell, and especially Argyle and Richard Thornburg, and it would be awesome to see Theo (the only terrorist to survive the first movie) again.
The problem is, with this movie being set in Russia, most of those characters (with the exception of maybe Theo) would make much sense. At least, with this one being released during Winter and set in Russia, it might see the Christmas theme finally return.
@shuabert About that so called "adoptation" thing, i think that was only a rumor. Unless McClane adopts some guy from a homeless shelter and takes him under his wing? The reason why they're retconning his son, is becuz he mentioned in the 4th one that Jr took up his mother's maiden name and didn't want to have any connections with his dad.
F*ck, I feel stupid. He had two kids all along, right? I totally forgot about the son from the original movie. Disregard everything I said. Bring on the son.
@seanag You mean stream movies from this site? Well, you go here: movieweb/videos/full-movies and then pick which movie you want to watch. I'm pretty sure it only works if you're in the US, though.
