Hellboy (2004): Review By (Insert Username Here)

"Guilermo Del Toro's dream project comes to life as a frightening, superhero action adventure " - (Insert Username Here)
Guillermo Del Toro is certainly a well respected director, and with Hellboy he put all his effort into making it an epic superhero masterpiece, like Peter Jackson(the man that Del Toro is often compared to) did with the Lord of the Rings-and it worked.

Del Toro's vision, as always, is perfect for this type of movie. I think with any other director, this movie especially would've been crap. The visionary puts his own personal touch on the movie, while also staying very true to the comics the film's based on.

I also think this movie would've been crap if not for the excellent performance by Ron Pearlman. The man's a perfect fit to portray Hellboy. His performance and witty dialogue fit the demonic superhero to the point where you almost feel like Hellboy's real.

The story is what drives the film forward. Mike Mignola's story of a demonic creature arriving on Earth through a portal and growing up to become a member of the BPRD to fight creatures out of this world could only be handeled by Del Toro.

Speaking of the BPRD, it's members only add to the movie and Hellboy's world. Doug Jones and Salma Blair are perfect fits for Abe Sapian and Liz Sherman, respectively. The frightening Sammael offers Hellboy great creatures to fight in his never-ending battle.

All in all, Hellboy is an entertaining and mostly interesting movie that offers plenty of action and humor.
