Kung Fu Panda's Mark Osborne has been hired to direct The Little Prince for Gallic S3D. According to Variety, it is estimated to be one of the single biggest movie projects launching out of Europe this year, with a budget of $62.4 million.

The Little Prince will be based on Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's 1943 novella of the same name, which has been adapted many times in the past for both film and television. The project is being made for a worldwide audience, with a story that follows a stranded pilot who encounters a strange little boy who claims to be the prince of his own planet.

An international voice cast is currently being assembled. Production is scheduled to start in 2012, with a 2014 release date being eyed.
