'Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom' Poster

Justin Chadwick directs with Idris Elba in this biopic from The Weinstein Company that follows South African leader Nelson Mandela's plight from incarceration to emancipation.

Acquired by The Weinstein Company earlier this year, director Justin Chadwick's Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom may be an Oscar contender when it hits theaters in limited release on November 29. The studio has released a new poster featuring Idris Elba as Nelson Mandela in this biopic, which follows his entire life from childhood, to being imprisoned for over 27 years, to being elected the South African president. Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom was released November 29th, 2013 and stars Idris Elba, Naomie Harris, Tony Kgoroge, Riaad Moosa, Zolani Mkiva, Simo Mogwaza, Fana Mokoena, Thapelo Mokoena. The film is directed by Justin Chadwick.

    @Agent-Cooper yeah I know this. I just find denzel a far better actor, especially for an important role as Mendela. And Freeman played Mendela already. But hey maybe Idris will surprise me. I was purely going off the poster.

    @phatalphd Idris Elba is a great actor and I'm sure he will do the role justice. Not every black man has to be played by either Denzel Washinton, Morgan Freeman or Will Smith..
