Man of Steel visual effects supervisor Joe Letteri revealed that the upcoming superhero remake is going for a more natural and real tone. Take a look at what he had to say about how director Zack Snyder re-envisioned this iconic story.

"I can't talk too much about Man of Steel yet, and I haven't seen the whole thing yet, but overall it's the story that's most exciting. It's a nice re-envisioning of the story of Superman leaving his homeworld and coming to this new one.

If you look at what Zack [Snyder] has done you'll see that they've abandoned a lot of the pretense that was in the comics and asked 'Can we still make this work?'

They're sticking to realism as much as possible. Fantastic elements are still there but a lot of it that been trimmed back to make it feel as though this actually happened."

Henry Cavill stars as the title character, with Amy Adams portraying Lois Lane and Russell Crowe playing Superman's father, Jor-El.

Man of Steel was released June 14th, 2013 and stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Diane Lane, Russell Crowe, Antje Traue, Harry Lennix, Richard Schiff. The film is directed by Zack Snyder.

MOS plot seems more in line with the Smallville TV series than the Donner film. Even the way Supes launches from the ground into flight in the MOS trailers is exactly the way it was done in the Smallville series finale...i don't believe it's coincidence. Smallville may be the new cannon for Superman. And the only connection MOS has with the previous theatrical films can be made through the loose connections Smallville had to Donner's Superman. MOS follows the same exact theme as the TV show but Smallville had to extend storylines over a 10 year period. Underrated show(despite cheesy writing and spotty acting at times). The TV show might get its due now after MOS gets released.

@undeadslayer4 just like in the original I'm sure that he'll reveal that he's not from Earth, but even if he doesn't the fact that he has super human abilities will more than likely make them fear him first

It's gonna be hard to see this without asking questions relating to past movies(especially donners films). But I'm excited, hopefully if this works, they might bring in 'doomsday' for next film or third? Wishful thinking :)

@dark-env Agreed, up to a point. It would be illogical to believe everyone would have the same reaction. I imagine fear, curiosity, anger, acceptance, and awestruck are some of the reactions one would find. However, since that is the case, it doesn't make the reactions of humans in this film any different than those found of the people in the original film.

Some people are going to look at this and complain about adding "realism" to this but I honestly believe the realism will be how everyone reacts to there being an alien with super human abilities, not making Superman himself realistic
