Director George Miller didn't bow to Hollywood's need to make everything watered down and kid-friendly! Unlike Terminator Genisys, which has hinted at a PG-13 rating to ensure a younger audience will be able to see it, and last summer's neutered The Expendables 3, Mad Max: Fury Road is retaining it's core ingredients, which includes a fine mix of adults-only mayhem! George Miller didn't want to stray far from his franchise's roots, and because of that, the MPAA has rewarded the sequel an R rating! Take a look:

Mad Max: Fury Road is Rated R for intense sequences of violence throughout, and for disturbing images.

Mad Max: Fury Road is an apocalyptic story set in the furthest reaches of our planet, in a stark desert landscape where humanity is broken, and almost everyone is crazed fighting for the necessities of life. Within this world exist two rebels on the run who just might be able to restore order. There's Max, a man of action and a man of few words, who seeks peace of mind following the loss of his wife and child in the aftermath of the chaos. And Furiosa, a woman of action and a woman who believes her path to survival may be achieved if she can make it across the desert back to her childhood homeland.

Even with its firm R rating, we have yet to see a red band trailer for Mad Max: Fury Road. A new international trailer has been released, which offers up plenty of the intense violence and action in question. You can check it out here. In the meantime, we'll be sure to let you know as soon as any more disturbing or violent images arrive. Summer just can't get here fast enough, can it?
