Ringleader Studios has acquired rights to adapt Colin Wilson's novel The Space Vampires for the small screen. The intergalactic sci-fi story was adapted for the big screen by Tobe Hooper. That project was called Lifeforce and starred Steve Railsback, Patrick Stewart and Mathilda May.

The series will share the name with the film and follows a group of astronauts that discover three human-like aliens in a badly damaged spaceship. They return to Earth, where the aliens release a plague on humanity.

The studio is planning an episodic series, a graphic novel, a video game, and additional media tie-ins. Ringleader Studios founder Steve Harris will be producing.
