Aside from all the concept art actor Vin Diesel has been sharing with his fans, we haven't heard much on the status of his sci-fi sequel Riddick. Today we have news that actor Karl Urban has joined the Riddick cast.

Karl Urban will be reprising his role as Vaako from The Chronicles of Riddick. Vaako was the right hand man of Colm Feore's Lord Marshall, although it is not known if Colm Feore will return as well.

Little is known about the story of Riddick, although we reported earlier this month that they will shoot in Canada. However, we don't know when exactly Riddick will start shooting in Canada. That report also indicated they are approaching Riddick as an R-rated sequel, which Universal Pictures is supporting.

David Twohy is directing Riddick from his own screenplay.

Riddick was released September 6th, 2013 and stars Vin Diesel, Jordi MollĂ , Matthew Nable, Katee Sackhoff, Dave Bautista, Bokeem Woodbine, Raoul Trujillo, Conrad Pla. The film is directed by David Twohy.

I didn't like "Chronicles of Riddick," but I was digging Riddick in "Pitch Black." I remember wanting to see that in theaters. Good movie too.
