Josh Hutcherson Embarks On ‘Journey 3-D’

The updated version of Jules Verne’s ‘Journey to the Center of the Earth’.

13-year-old Josh Hutcherson (Zathura) has signed on to star in the fantasy film, Journey 3-D for Walden Media and New Line Cinema.

Brendan Fraser is already attached to the updated and 3-D version of Jules Verne classic science fiction novel Journey to the Center of the Earth. The Hollywood Reporter notes the story revolves around a scientist (Fraser) and his troubled nephew (Hutcherson) on an expedition in Iceland who stumble upon a mystery that leads them on a thrill-ride adventure, bringing them face to face with never-before-seen worlds and creatures beneath Earth's surface.

Fraser is executive producing the Eric Brevig-directed film; shooting for Journey 3-D is scheduled to begin June 10 in Montreal.

Journey to the Center of the Earth was released July 11th, 2008 and stars Brendan Fraser, Josh Hutcherson, Anita Briem, Seth Meyers, Jean Michel Paré, Jane Wheeler, Frank Fontaine, Giancarlo Caltabiano. The film is directed by Eric Brevig.
