Actor Joel Edgerton is branching out into screenwriting, selling his spec screenplay One Night Stand to New Regency. The Warrior star is attached as an executive producer, but will not act in One Night Stand.

The story is described as an honest look at the aftermath of a one night stand, from both the man and woman's perspectives. It is also described as a drama with comedic elements.

New Regency executives Brad Weston and Carla Hacken are said to be very high on the script, and will start meeting with directors in the next few weeks.

No production schedule was released for One Night Stand.

Joel Edgerton will next be seen in Wish You Were Here, which debuts at the Sundance Film Festival this week, The Odd Life of Timothy Green (August 15), and The Great Gatsby (December 25).
