Jim Sturgess Joins Kate Beckinsale in ‘Eliza Graves’

Brad Anderson is directing this thriller loosely based on an Edgar Allan Poe story about a mental institute intern who falls for a patient.

Jim Sturgess has signed on to star alongside Kate Beckinsale in Eliza Graves, which is loosely based on Edgar Allan Poe's 1845 short story The System of Doctor Tarr and Professor Fethe.

The story centers on a recent Harvard Medical School graduate (Jim Sturgess) who lands a job as an intern at a mental institute. He becomes obsessed with the title character (Kate Beckinsale), although he doesn't know that the hospital has been overrun by the patients, who are now posing as doctors.

Brad Anderson (The Call) is directing from a screenplay by Joe Gangemi (Wind Chill). Mel Gibson, Oren Peli, Bruce Davey, Mark Amin, and Cami Winikoff are producing along with Millennium/Nu Image Entertainment. Production is scheduled to start June 21 in Bulgaria.

Jim Sturgess most recently starred in Cloud Atlas and the indie Upside Down, which is currently playing in limited release.

Stonehearst Asylum was released October 24th, 2014 and stars Kate Beckinsale, Brendan Gleeson, Michael Caine, Jim Sturgess, Ben Kingsley, David Thewlis, Jason Flemyng, Sophie Kennedy Clark. The film is directed by Brad Anderson.
