Back in June, Sony Pictures made the surprise announcement that it was giving the green light to both The Amazing Spider-Man 3 and The Amazing Spider-Man 4, while The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was still in production. Earlier today, studio president Amy Pascal teased that they are planning numerous spin-offs to go along with the sequels. Here's what she had to say, during a presentation to investors.

"We are going to access Marvel's full world of Spider-Man characters, so be on the lookout for new heroes and villains."

Sony Pictures Entertainment chief Michael Lynton also teased that there are currently scripts in development for these spin-offs, although he wouldn't identify any specific characters.

"We do very much have the ambition about creating a bigger universe around Spider-Man. There are a number of scripts in the works."

Although it hasn't been confirmed which characters will get their own stand-alone movies, Sony's licensing deal with Marvel allows it to make movies based on the peripheral characters in this universe, such as Venom, a character who has been long rumored to get a spin-off, and Black Cat. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 introduces a number of new characters, such as Jamie Foxx's Electro and Paul Giamatti's Rhino, which could also be spun off.
