Is Elizabeth Olsen Scarlet Witch in ‘The Avengers: Age of Ultron’?

Saoirse Ronan has reportedly passed on the role of Wanda Maximoff in director Joss Whedon’s highly-anticipated Marvel Phase Two sequel.

Elizabeth Olsen is reportedly the front runner to portray Scarlet Witch in The Avengers: Age of Ultron, after Saoirse Ronan passed on the role.

Back in May, Saoirse Ronan revealed that she would love to play Wanda Maximoff in the Marvel Phase Two sequel, but it wasn't known if she had been offered the role. This came after Joss Whedon claimed to be writing the character with the actress in mind. Ultimately, the actress passed, with the studio now focusing their casting efforts on Elizabeth Olsen.

We reported in June that Kick-Ass 2 star Aaron Taylor-Johnson is being sought for Scarlet Witch's brother Quicksilver (a.k.a. Pietro Maximoff), but his casting has not been confirmed. In the Marvel comic books, Quicksilver possesses super-human speed, while Scarlet Witch has the power to control probabilities.

Joss Whedon is directing from his own screenplay, with the stars from Marvel's The Avengers reprising their roles along with a number of new characters. Production is scheduled to begin in February.

Elizabeth Olsen will next be seen in Kill Your Darlings, Oldboy and Godzilla.

Avengers: Age of Ultron comes to theaters May 1st, 2015 and stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr., Elizabeth Olsen, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Cobie Smulders, Jeremy Renner. The film is directed by Joss Whedon.

@OhhmeohhMy Very true. I was just wondering. I havnt gotten around to watching Game of Thrones. I feel out of the loop since I havnt seen it, but ill definitely look into the actress and see if I can see what you like about her.

@nick C. Well for one I don't find her to be that fine if a actress. My option tho. And I don't dislike her as a person. I don't know her. But as a actress I have my option. And do I have anybody in mind. Never thought about it. But if I had to come up with someone quick. I would choose Emilia Clarke from Game of Thrones. Boo yaa ha

@OhhmeohhMy why don't you want her to get the role? Do you just not like her as an actress, based on her previous roles, or do you just have someone better in your mind to play SW?

@sean yes I don't think she will get the role. Sorry I did type that wrong. I forgot to right the word "not" in that post. My bad. But I don't think she will. And I really so hope she does not get the role.

Its to bad that she is immediately associated with the terrible acting of her (super rich) sisters because she is ten times the actress that they ever were.

Still...she would not be my choice for SW but I know that Joss Whedon picks his actors carefully. In that light it would not surprise me one bit if SW and QS were the best things in the movie.

Interesting choice. I've liked her in what I've seen her in, Silent House and Martha Marcy May Marlene, so I have no doubt of her talent, and she's picking up roles like crazy lately. If they asked her and she committed to it then that'd be a huge role for her. Now to just wait and see.

@sean. I agree whit what @phatalphd said. But don't worry I won't have to worry about her getting the role.

Why would anyone pass on a role in this movie? That seems pretty stupid considering I've never heard of her to begin with.

@OhhmeohhMy@ed-wood If she is casted as Scarlet Witch, that should be interesting. I don't know if its a good match either. Hopefully it is.

She's a good actress but I can't say that I know the character very well. Don't know if its a good match.
