Is Danny Boyle Directing the Next ‘28 Days Later’ Sequel?

The director of the original, which focused on a worldwide zombie outbreak, may take a break from dramas to focus on this horror sequel.

Danny Boyle may direct a third installment of the 28 Days Later franchise
Dread Central is reporting some intriguing news that director Danny Boyle could return to direct an untitled sequel to 28 Days Later.

Danny Boyle, of course, directed the original 28 Days Later, which followed a group of people trying to survive after the "rage virus" spread across the world, turning most of the Earth's population into zombie-like creatures. Juan Carlos Fresnadillo directed the sequel, 28 Weeks Later, and now Dread Central reports that Danny Boyle may return for this proposed third installment. Here's an excerpt from the site:

"Dread Central has learned exclusively that the director of the original film, Danny Boyle, is planning to return to direct the as of yet untitled third film in the franchise. Details are scant at the moment, but we're working to get some more for you."

We'll be sure to keep you posted on this new 28 Days Later sequel and Danny Boyle's involvement on the movie as soon as we have more information.

28 Days Later was released June 27th, 2003 and stars Alex Palmer, Bindu De Stoppani, Jukka Hiltunen, David Schneider, Cillian Murphy, Toby Sedgwick, Naomie Harris, Noah Huntley. The film is directed by Danny Boyle.

Instead of Danny Boyle and Alex Garland finding ways to write and direct a third installment, they should consider a prequel. Imagine, every character within the two films and their experience during the 28 days outbreak (including Jim's accident). All the main and supporting characters having almost an origin of surviving the outbreak. Danny and Alex should really consider a prequel to promote the third installment. The only concern i have for this idea, is the title of the movie, "28 days" is already taken =(

The first was awesome. Second one sucked really bad and didn't go anywhere, and was basically a pointless movie. The third better get back to what the first one was. Would like a good addition. I liked the first set in England. Don't know about showing other areas. Would love to see terrorists get infected and the everyone picking them off left and right without trials. Awesome.

thats true, these two movies have been the best zombie movies this day and age

its supposed to be called 28 months later and have it to the point that they can no longer contain the outbreak and it just decimates the world so they can leave off to the final film...

if they go far enough, and make it 28 years later with the last few survivors in the world, typical i know, but in this films zombie world that would be awesome
