Is Apocalypse the Villain in 'X-Men: Days of Future Past'?

Director Bryan Singer will not confirm or deny the presence of the first mutant in history, born more than 5,000 years ago.

Director Bryan Singer has not been shy about revealing cast members for his upcoming superhero sequel X-Men: Days of Future Past. However, the filmmaker did clam up, to an extent, when recently asked if the villain Apocalypse is making an appearance.

"I can't tell you..."

Appearing nervous under pressure, the director refused to answer any more questions about Apocalypse. When asked if Apocalypse will be rendered through motion-capture techniques, he gave this response.

"This is how it gets started, when somebody starts piecing the little bits together..."

Apocalypse is said to be the first mutant in history, born over 5,000 years ago on the planet Akkaba. He was abandoned at birth due to his irregular appearance of gray skin and blue lips. He shows up throughout several periods in history, with ancient civilizations worshiping him as a God. In the Marvel comic books, he battled the X-Men on several occasions, including the Age of the Apocalypse arc that featured time travel and alternate histories.

Some have speculated that Apocalypse may be the character Peter Dinklage is portraying, since the actor never confirmed his role after signing on last month. With production starting very soon in Montreal, more details are sure to be released regarding both the story and the villain of X-Men: Days of Future Past.

X-Men: Days of Future Past was released May 23rd, 2014 and stars Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Halle Berry, Nicholas Hoult, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page. The film is directed by Bryan Singer.

@dragonfoxmem@writer220 You guys, I have no idea what you're talking about. I've seen every X-Men film at least twice - cause that's about as much as one can handle Origins. I promise you, there's no "X3" or whatever you call it.

@ROFLitschristian the film is called X-Men: the last stand, where the mutants test drive the new technology. Brent Ratner's film, the only one that has the Sentinel.

Oh wait, unless we are going with the Tom Cruise/Jack Reacher theory here, in which case that is completely O.K. according to the dumbasses in Hollywood who made that crap.

  23. Mr. Fixit

Seriously?? Peter Dinklage as Apocalypse?? Are they on crack?? We're talking Puck from Alpha Flight, not Apocalypse. If they cast him as Apocalypse, I am done with anything from Singer.

@thomasclarke It still not confirmed on IMDB who Dinklage will be playing so I am assuming that it still hasn't been released. @narrator

That doesn't make sense for DoFP. I am having a very hard time getting my head around how they could possibly justify Apocalyspe being in this. Nimrod...sure, hes the ultimate sentinal but not Apocalypse.

Really if your going to do a movie with Apocalypse at all...it needs to be the focus. The main villain.

  26. Brainiac

@raoulduke33 dude that does sound awesome. i hope the apocalypse stuff is just red herring, they should learn from X3 and not try and cram so much into on movie.

plus anyone notice that this article clearly seems written by someone who knows nothing about apocalypse..."including the Age of the Apocalypse arc that featured time travel and alternate histories"

besides if they were going to title the movie after the storyline that it is based on, this movie would then be called "X-men: Age of Apocalypse" based on what this article is saying.

  27. Bawnian©-Dexeus

@narrator Hold on a sec, the writers are willing to literally shrink a character just to gain the GoT audience? And this doesn't bother you in the least? I'm not saying it to cause an uproar like the Spiderman articles and Woodley, just interesting that it sounds good to you. I'm not an expert on anything x-men related, but, well yeah...
