‘Indiana Jones 5’ to Kill Off Harrison Ford

Though George Lucas is against the idea, Steven Spielberg agrees that the latest sequel should be the actor’s last.

Harrison Ford wants to kill off Indiana Jones
Showbiz Spy reports that actor Harrison Ford wants his iconic Doctor Henry Jones Jr. character killed off in Indiana Jones 5. Here's what an insider told the site, which reveales how producers George Lucas and Steven Spielberg are leaning towards the idea:

"Harrison thinks it would be good for Indy to die and pass on his hat to his son in the next one. George especially is resisting the notion, but Steven is considering it. Funnily enough Harrison wanted the same for Han Solo in the final Star Wars but George put an end to it. This time (George) doesn't have all the say though."

We reported back in August that a story for Indiana Jones 5 had been cracked with a script now in the works. It is still unclear when Indiana Jones 5 will go into production, but stay tuned for the latest details as soon as more information comes in.

Indiana Jones 5 is in development .

Been thinking about this for a while. I would rather see an Uncharted film than a sequel to the fourth Indy film, Shia is all right but he's no Harrison Ford.

Still don't care about the 4th film after seeing it again for the second time.

Why can't he just retire, and pass on the trusty 'ol hat and whip to Mutt?

when will they ever get to doing this, too many films Steven has under his belt, but as if he is very technically involved with tin tin and the war horse but then Jonathon Nolan needs to rap up Interseller and steven cant always hang onto a series that died off after the fourth

How about a prequel instead, between the TV series and the films. Actually that sounds better than this.

""an insider"" said this LOL. That's so ridiculously vague that this isn't even worthy of an article. Give me a break.

if they killed him off it wouldn't follow canon from the indiana jones universe. most of you must be forgetting that during the young indiana jones tv series, it was an elderly indiana jones that narrated the stories from his younger adventures. he was missing an eye from an untold story, but he was definitely still alive!!!!

You guys understand that at some point Harrison Ford is gonna be to old for the role, and if they want to continue the series they are gonna have to move on to someone new regardless if its a tebbit or shai playing his son... Id rather see them continue forward then a reboot...

see i agree with @Jimthar on this if they kill off the character and he passes the hate onto Shia their gonna try and make a whole nother series on this and we all know they will mess it up and tarnish the Indiana Jones series

The story ended with Last Crusade. They can continue to make more movies, but I won't recognize them as Indiana Jones or part of the story, just some other movies with the namesake.

i dont mind if they kill him off in the end but i really dont think that shia lebouf should be given the series after that. it just seems like a lame way to continue a series thats already dead.

Fans: This is blasphemy! This is MADNESS!

Lucas: Madness? No. THIS. IS...well, actually, yeah, it's madness. Okay everyone, put away your swords...HEY! No one goes in the susp*cious looking pit of death today. Save it for Spielberg.

I wouldn't mind it if they hadn't given the name of Mutt.... It's not Indiana Jones without a character that has the name.

What they gonna change it to Mutt Jones? pffffffff Only way this works is if the kid takes up the name also, and keeps the legacy going.

what he doesnt need to do is pass it on to shia. theres no indiana jones without harrison ford. if they did that theyd just kill the franchise

Yea i know right just pass the hat off , he doesnt need to end it like that in the movie.

Why is there a need for the movie industry to kill Iconic characters off. Just pass the mantle off to someone else or just end it like The last Crusade, which I agree was the best ending.

why not simply passing the hat on to mutt? no deaths required.

okay I have a few ideas , KILL OFF MUTT or replace Shia with a better actor
I maybe a long time fan of Indy Jones, but I'm going to say it just reboot the damn franchise

Shia may not be that great an actor, but he should never do feature films. I think he only wants to act for one reason 'fame' and or 'money'

NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! Shia could never be Indy!

Just reboot the franchise fo f*cks sake.

After Indy 4, I could give a flying floppy donkey dick about anything Indiana Jones...

They need to leave it alone. Enough with this talk about how they could do this or do that... screw all that. Last Crusade had a fine ending (the ending I recognize as the end of Indy), there isn't any need for more, especially with Shia. He's not a bad actor, but Indy wasn't a good fit for him in my opinion. Like other series that have concluded (Buffy...) I wish they could be left alone...

Of course Lucas wouldn't want him killed off, he needs him in every 10 years to act and earn him money. I hope Spielberg puts his weight on his kill off issue.

i not sure about killing him off, but indy has to have a great farewell....i don't think it needs to pasted on to his son but farewell like riding off into the sunset or just hanging up the hat and whip.

I think it will be good if it will be end in hexology (6-part series) just like Star Wars
Before the original Indy ends, we need to see Indy has a real treasure and some good details before it will be passed to Shia LaBeouf.
