Actor/filmmaker James Franco is getting behind the camera to direct once again, assembling an all-star cast for his adaptation In Dubious Battle, based on the 1936 John Steinbeck novel of the same name. Selena Gomez, Vincent D'Onofrio, Robert Duvall, Ed Harris, Bryan Cranston and Danny McBride have all signed on to star. No details were immediately available for the characters they will portray.

The novel centers on a man trying to organize a strike between fruit pickers in Southern California. Matt Rager, who worked on the screenplay for As I Lay Dying with James Franco, is writing the screenplay adaptation. Principal photography is slated to begin in March, although it isn't known if other roles needed to be cast. James Franco has a history with John Steinbeck, recently making his Broadway debut with a revival of his Of Mice and Men.

AMBI Group, the movie development, finance, production and distribution group owned by Andrea Iervolino and Lady Monika Bacardi is providing financing, and will introduce the project at the Berlin International Film Festival to sell the international rights. James Franco will reunite with Selena Gomez on this project, after their indie hit Spring Breakers. This will also be his fifth project with Danny McBride after Your Highness, This Is the End, The Sound and the Fury and As I Lay Dying.
