Hugh Jackman Has Read the ‘Wolverine 2’ Script

Actor Liev Schrieber isn’t sure if Victor Creed will show up in the sequel.

We reported last week that Christopher McQuarrie had completed the script for X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2 and now it seems the star has read it. io9 reported from a Repo Men press conference where actor Liev Schrieber, who played Victor Creed/Sabertooth in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, revealed he recently met with Hugh Jackman, who said he had read the script for the sequel.

I just had dinner with [Hugh Jackman] last night and Hugh read the first draft of the script and I was really excited about it. It's still not clear whether or not Victor will be present in the Japan storyline. In the Japan storyline as I remember it from the Wolverine comics, Victor wasn't there. So I don't know, of course I've got my fingers crossed because I love the character so much, to have the chance to do it again would be a lot of fun, but I'm not sure.

Our previous report revealed that production on X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2 would start in January 2011. We'll be sure to keep you posted on any new developments surrounding this upcoming sequel as soon as we have more information.

The Wolverine was released July 26th, 2013 and stars Hugh Jackman, Tao Okamoto, Rila Fukushima, Hiroyuki Sanada, Svetlana Khodchenkova, Brian Tee, Hal Yamanouchi, Will Yun Lee. The film is directed by James Mangold.

God that last comment was full of typo's. I was in a hurry so here's what I mean.

Well my support is pending. The Japan story arc is interesting, especially if they go (delicately) towards the comic's route. However, this all hangs on who directs.

I mean someone with some form of name in movies (preferably a story-based director and not an action guy) to make this. That way he can at least stick up to the studios, rather than dick around with idiotic and money based stiffs with quick buck ideas. He needs to have balls too, as well as be passionate for not just Wolverine but all characters involved. We can't have another Wolverine: Origins (where the studio just took control of it, where it was practically a experimental film for fresh out of film school students, and where it held a rather poor script). The sad thing is, NOT A SINGLE DIRECTOR stands out for this film right now. Not one that would fit this story arc and definitely not one that the franchise needs to revive itself.

As for Liev coming back, I say they can change the story slightly if they wanted to. No need for him to be a main character, and he can have less corny dialogue. He should have a role slightly bigger than a cameo... maybe. That would be perfect.

I mean, the after credits ending in origins was the best part of the movie for me (save for deadpools 1 paragraph). the end scene (there we're several) set it up perfectly. Hugh Jackman in a Japanese bar drinking. the woman asks is he's trying to forget. He says No. "Trying to remember." Something like that. So in this one when and if he sees Victor he won't recognize him. Perfect.

Overall, I am stoked for this idea. But it can still fail. The casting and director (and even producers) have a big influence on its downfall or redemption.

Flipside: My point exactly Cyclops being killed sealed the deal for me and from that point on I knew it was going to suck. In the comics Cyclops is a badass but in the movies he barley had any cool fight scenes except in X2 when he fought Lady Deathstrike. But he was potrayed well in the first two installments.

I thought that Wolverine was portrayed very well. He is one of my favorite x-men. But what I mean is that they focus to much on Wolverine on the x-men series. They killed off Cyclops for no reason. I mean basically they should have renamed the original x-men series just wolverine. Didn't really have much to do with the other. And yeah Wolverine didn't ruin it, X1 and X2 were awesome, X3 was stupid, but they just focused to much on Wolverine that the others barely got there own screen time.

@parkWilliams: I think they did the opposute and focused it more on Wolverine than any thing just like the entire series not saying the first two were awsome. They jsut need to have X-Men 4 and bring back Cylcops, & Professor X back. Jean Grey is not necessary because she is not often seen in comcis anymore now that Scott and Emma are together. Also for X-Men 4 they should go for Apocalpyse now that would be badass. Play X-Men Legends 2 and you see what I mean.

@FlipSide: I have to disagree. I think Wolverine was one of the best portrayed characters in the series and Jackman is a great actor for the character. Yes they do need to branch out and give the other characters some room to develop but I don't think it's really Wolverine's fault. Look at X-men 3; they tried to shift focus more to Storm and Jean Grey/ Pheonix and they failed miserably. There were a lot of problems to the series, but Wolverine wasn't one of them.

Of course they're going to make a second one. The first one was really successful.

I have to agree with you WARRock. To be honest I think that Wolverine is an awesome comic book character. Awesome powers, awesome origin story. But to me, he ruined the X-Men Series. It focused more on him then Cyclops, Storm, Beast or Angel. I really hope that writers become smarter and get this film out of there heads and either reboot the X-Men movies or do a Cyclops Origin story. I'm pretty sure those would be a hell of a lot entertaining then another Wolverine movie.

War Machine you are totally correct Gambit was shown so many times in the promo as well as Deadpool and they both got dicked. Gambit was nice for the little time he was in there. But Deadpool was just completley butchered. Fox needs to give the rights back to Marvel. Any way bring on Silver Samurai I hope they get the guy from Ninja Assasin or someone good to play him.

Like the first one, they should ease up on the characters and all that. Over casting so much character results in them killing them off in the movie. The movie is good but the kind that would make me rewind and play over and over again.

Hopefully Marvel Studios has learned their lesson trying to force the directors of their movies to cram too many characters into one film. Happened with Spider-man 3, and it happened with last year's X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

I do want Victor to come back. Hugh and Liev have really good chemistry as brothers in my opinion. They saved the film for me from becoming a total waste of time.
