Hugh Grant Boards ‘The Man from U.N.C.L.E.’

The actor will play the head of British Naval Intelligence in director Guy Ritchie’s big screen adaptation of the 1960s TV series.

Hugh Grant has signed on for a supporting role in Warner Bros. big screen adaptation The Man from U.N.C.L.E. for director Guy Ritchie.

Henry Cavill and Armie Hammer are playing Napoleon Solo and Illya Kullyakin, agents of United Network Command for Law Enforcement (U.N.C.L.E.) who protect the Earth from the evil organization Technological Hierarchy for the Removal of Undesireables and the Subjugation of Humanity (T.H.R.U.S.H.). Hugh Grant will play the head of British Naval Intelligence. Alicia Vikander plays the female lead, a British agent who has an affinity for cars, a character who wasn't in The Man from U.N.C.L.E. TV series which ran from 1964 to 1968.

Guy Ritchie is producing and directing from a screenplay by Scott Z. Burns, with Lionel Wigram and John Davis also serving as producers. Production is scheduled to begin in September.

Hugh Grant most recently starred in the futuristic Warner Bros. adaptation Cloud Atlas and lent his voice to Aardman Animation's The Pirates! Band of Misfits.

The Man from U.N.C.L.E. comes to theaters August 14th, 2015 and stars Henry Cavill, Armie Hammer, Alicia Vikander, Hugh Grant, Elizabeth Debicki, Jared Harris, Luca Calvani. The film is directed by Guy Ritchie.
