Dave Bautista literally stole the show in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. So it's no wonder he is at the top of every producer's wish list whenever the idea of a new villain comes up for a remake or sequel. Earlier today we saw this WWE Superstar on the set of Spectre, playing an assassin known as Mr. Hinx opposite Daniel Craig as James Bond. Now, perpetual scoop delivery system Latino Review is breaking the rumor that Batista, as he is known to his original fan base, is being targeted as The Kurgan, the main villain in Highlander.

Latino Review claim that Dave Bautista has already signed on, but that has not yet been officially announced. The wrestler-turned-actor will play a giant barbarian in the Highlander reboot, which is coming from first time director Cedric Nicolas-Troyan, a VFX artist. The original 1986 movie starred Christopher Lambert as Connor MacLeod, an immortal Scotsman and expert swordsman who must fight for decades to survive without his head being severed. He is relentlessly pursued by the Kurgan, who hopes to become the last immortal on earth. Highlander spawned quite a few sequels and a long-standing syndicated television series.

Clancy Brown played the original Kurgan. About the role, director Cedric Nicolas-Troyan stated:

"We have to find that younger emerging guy, and surround him with a strong Kurgan, and an actor who shines as Ramirez the way Connery did in that first film."

While there is still no word on who might take over for Christopher Lambert in the lead role, it looks like the movie has definitely found it's villain. For a while, Ryan Reynolds was attached but eventually dropped out, obviously so he could go on and star in Deadpool. What do you think? Is Drax the best villain for this latest Hollywood remake? Or should Dave Bautista move onto something new?
